All Samsung users have been urged to check their devices without delay and download the latest update.
Anyone with a Galaxy phone in their possession would be wise to check their settings and download the latest update without delay. It’s been confirmed that an important patch has been released by Samsung, which fixes over 11 issues on these popular devices. That might sound bad, but things get worse. One of the glitches has a ‘critical’ rating, with hackers already aware of it and using it in the wild.
“Severity: Critical,” Samsung warned in its update notes.
“Out-of-bounds Write in libimagecodec.quram.so prior to SMR Sep-2025 Release 1 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code.
“Samsung was notified that an exploit for this issue has existed in the wild.”
Executing arbitrary code can lead to cyber crooks installing malware or gain privileges on a device without the permission of the owner. Once infected, this attack can then be used to spy and steal private data.
It’s a serious issue, and that’s why Samsung has rushed so quickly to fix things. If you own a new Galaxy it’s recommended you intsall the latest patch as soon as possible.

Commenting on the news Jamie Akhtar, CEO and Co-founder at CyberSmart said: “Samsung has released a security update for their phones that patches a serious vulnerability (or set of vulnerabilities) which could allow attackers to execute malicious code remotely on affected devices.
“Given Samsung’s large global user base and the prevalence of Android in general, leaving such flaws unaddressed introduces real risk. Not just of data theft, but of entire devices being compromised.
“To reduce exposure, users should check immediately whether their Samsung device has received the update, and if so, install it without delay”.
