In recent weeks tablets have proven to be in high demand from tech shoppers, propelled by the newest Apple iPad launch which has seen a snazzy new 2024 Pro and Air model come on sale across the UK. As shoppers snap up the latest devices, Google’s 11′ Pixel tablet is proof you don’t have to spend thousands for an upgrade.
While its 2023 launch date means its age can’t compete with Apple’s newest iPad Pro, price and affordability is certainly on Google’s side. Now available for £100 cheaper than ever before at £499 and packed with 128GB of storage, Android 13 software, an 11-hour battery life, and a Quad HD screen – anything you watch will be sharp.
As Currys takes £100 off the usual asking price we’re here to share why users may want to consider picking Google over Apple, both offer on-the-go working flexibility and a high-quality screen, but there are some pretty noticeable differences when it comes to storage, cameras, and speed.

The Google Pixel 11-inch tablet was launched in June 2023, in between Apple’s previous 2022 iPad and the newer 2024 iPad Pro and Air models. Apple’s older 2022 iPad is cheaper than the Google Pixel to buy outright (down to its age) at £349, however, more affordable cost-splitting deals like Sky’s £11 per month offer bring the total cost to an astronomical £528 in total – £29 more than the Pixel 11′ tablet that has much better specs.
To start, Apple’s 2022 model price is based on the smallest 64GB device, compared to Google’s smallest size of 128GB – Pixel 11-inch tablet shoppers would get nearly double the amount of space. The next one-up from Google is it’s 8GB of RAM, twice the amount compared to Apple’s mere 4GB.
Of course, there’s also the slight difference in screen size (not that you’d notice it much) between Apple’s 10.9-inch screen and the 11-inch screen on the Google Pixel. Google also offers its Pixel tablet in a slightly smaller 10.9-inch screen size, which is available at Argos but note it’s the same £499 price as the bigger 11-inch screen as it’s not on sale.
When it comes to cameras and photography the 2022 Apple iPad trumps the Google Pixel tablet with a 12MP rear camera compared to a smaller 8MP on the Pixel. Video specs-wise, as the iPad has double the frames per second too.
