A gas leak has ground a busy street in North London to a halt. Videos shared on X show a large police cordon as gas engineers work to fix the leak in Seven Sisters Road, Holloway.
The road is closed eastbound between Hornsey Road and Berriman Road, reports traffic website Inrix. It is not thought anyone has been taken ill, with the London Ambulance Service (LAS) telling MyLondon that paramedics have been stood down.
The London Fire Brigade is encouraging members of the public to avoid the area. A spokesperson said: “We’re currently responding to a gas leak in the Seven Sisters area. Seven Sisters Road is currently closed between Hornsey Road and Berriman Road. Please avoid the area while the incident is ongoing”
The following six London buses are on diversion: 4, 29, 153, 253, 254, and 259. The Met Police and Cadent have been contacted for comment.
