Shots heard in North London as gun fired from car and road part closed

Gunshots rang out in North London in the early hours of this morning (June 28). Police raced to Hornsey Lane at around 1.17am (June 28) to reports of gunfire.

Detectives think the gun was fired from a car. Shell casings have been found, but there have been no arrests.

Part of Hornsey Lane is cordoned off while enquiries continue, according to a school on the same road.

A Met Police spokesperson said: “Police were called at 1.17am on Friday, June 28, to reports of shots fired at Hornsey Lane, N6. Officers attended.

“There were no reported injuries. At this early stage officer believe that the shots were fired from a car.

“An extensive area search was conducted but the suspects were not located. A number of shell casings have been recovered.

“Enquiries continue. Anyone who witnessed this incident or has footage should report online, call 101 or post on X @MetCC quoting 396/28JUN.

“Communities have a vital role to play in tackling knife and gun crime. We need information about crime and criminals, those who carry a weapon and are putting lives at risk.
