A woman has taken to social media to share her simple trick to banishing deodorant stains on her clothes – and it takes just five seconds. With people calling it a ‘game changer’ it will save your outfits

There’s nothing more frustrating than getting dressed and noticing bright white deodorant marks on your clothing.

No matter how much you try to get rid of them, especially on black clothes, deodorant stains can linger and make you look messy before you even leave the house. However, one woman has shared her easy five-second hack to banishing the marks – which means you won’t need to grab the baby wipes or damp cloth anymore. Presenter Alison Hall took to her Instagram page to show how she’s always camera-ready with her easy trick that uses just a simple velvet clothes hanger.

So, instead of changing your clothes the next time you get pesky deodorant stains on them, Alison showed how by simply rubbing the velvet hanger over the stains, it can easily remove the white residue. The velvet is soft enough to not ruin your clothes, but it has the right texture to take away the deodorant marks. Unlike other cleaning clothes or sponges, velvet is perfect for even the most delicate of fabrics. She called it the “most random yet helpful thing” she’s ever posted and wanted to share her life-saving trick with her followers. She said: “White stains from deodorant drive me crazy until I realised my velvet clothing hangers work wonders. Do you know this trick?”

People flocked to the comments to share their surprise, and one even said it “saved them 50 baby wipes”. One Instagram fan wrote: “This is the most useful thing I have seen on my timeline all week,” and a second said: “Thank you for your service,” while others thanked Alison for sharing the simple trick.

Another simple cleaning hack was shared by a cleaning guru on TikTok which shows how you can get your dirty trainers back to a sparky white colour again. The surprisingly simple trick for keeping them pristine involves just three everyday household ingredients found in most household cupboards.

The recipe calls for toothpaste, soap and baking powder – and that’s all. Just as it brightens your smile, toothpaste can help add radiance to your shoes. Soap works by disinfecting the area and baking powder helps eradicate persistent stains with its fizz-inducing properties. One TikTok user recorded himself trying out the three-product regime, showing how effortless it was to remove dirt and grime. He took the solution from a small glass bowl and slathered it on to the shoe with a brush.
