Sky is putting up the price of a popular streaming plan from today – luckily, there is a cheaper option.
There’s bad news for anyone who enjoys tuning into sporting action via Sky’s popular NOW service. This TV streaming platform has long offered a way of viewing the whole range of Sky Sports channels – including Sky Sports Premier League, Sky Sports F1 and Sky Sports Main Event – without signing up for a long-term contract.
In fact, if there’s a top flight football match or F1 race you fancy watching you can even join for 24 hours and pay a one-off fee. It’s that popular Sky Sports Day Membership that is being tweaked from today, April 30, and those who use it aren’t going to like the update.
From today, the cost of this plan is going up from £11.99 to £14.99 – that’s a huge £3 increase. It’s unclear why the cost is rising by such a big amount but it might convince some to move to longer-term plans that now offer much better value for money.
“We always try to keep prices as low as possible while continuing to offer the best member experience and flexible access to Sky Sports unrivalled sports coverage,” a NOW spokesperson told Mirror Online.
“NOW is the only place you can stream Sky Sports just for the day and our members continue to enjoy all the action from the Premiere League, F1, Women’s Super League, as well as new sports rights and channels such as our brand new Tennis Channel which will show the ATP and WTA Tours and later in the year expanded football action as Sky Sports becomes the exclusive home of the EFL.”
If that Day Membership now looks a little pricey there is another option that definitely offers more bang for your buck.
Those happy to sign up for six months of access can currently join for just £26 per month – that’s a saving of 25% off the usual £34.99 cost. NOW has confirmed that this deal is still valid and users won’t face any hikes during the term of the contract.

That means those joining today will keep that bargain subscription price until the autumn. It’s also worth noting that if finances get tough or you have a change of situation you can cancel at any time.
If you want an even longer contract you could also take the plunge and move to Sky Stream with Sky currently offering its ‘lowest ever’ price on a bundle that includes Sky Sports, Netflix and Entertainment.
