Whether you’re devastated that summer is over or secretly a little bit glad of the cooler temperatures, one thing we can all agree on is that the autumn rain is the worst. Nothing ruins your day quite like having to trudge through a downpour, especially when you can see your shoes getting ruined in front of your eyes.

Luckily we tracked down a great product on Amazon that helps protect your shoes from rain damage, whether they’re suede boots, leather school shoes or a pair of canvas trainers. The Crep Protect Shoe Protector Spray is ideal for back-to-school week, as it helps protect shoes instantly so you don’t need to worry about those brand new school shoes getting ruined before the first week of term is even over.

For £22 you can pick up a pack of two 200ml bottles of the Crep Protect which is ideal if you have a large family – or a lot of shoes – that need protecting. The spray leaves an invisible protective coating across your footwear that doesn’t alter the look or feel of them.

This protective layer is not only fully water repellant, but also prevents oil, stains and dirt from sticking to them too – perfect for little ones who can’t resist splashing in puddles and leaf piles, or who just can’t seem to avoid the muddiest patch on the playground.

It has a quick dry formula, and it’s recommended that you apply two coats to get the best results from the Crep Protect Shoe Protector Spray. It’s also safe to use on almost all types of shoes, including leather, suede, nubuck and canvas, which should cover just about all the footwear in your household.

Other options also include the Cherry Blossom Shoe Protector for just £4.50 at Sainsbury’s which protects all footwear from rain and stains. You could also pick up the Liquiproof Travel Cleaning Kit on sale at Sports Direct, where it’s now £18 down from £35 which has everything you need to condition, clean and remove stains from all types of fabrics and textiles.

If you want to give more than your shoes some protection, the Scotchgard Fabric Water Shield is ÂŁ10.79 for a single 400ml can, and can be applied to anything that you want to protect from stains and make water repellant. From cushions, table linen and sofas to suede jackets, shirts and dresses, the spray prevents stains from setting in the fabric and stops liquids from soaking in.

However the Crep Protect Shoe Protector Spray has been praised by Amazon shoppers, who say: “Works like a charm easy to use.”

Another wrote: “Really easy to use, this has kept my Uggs super clean and dry!! So reliable and didn’t discolour my Uggs at all! The smell is awful so use in a ventilated area or outside but this just comes with the protection.”

One did mention: “Runs out really quick but good quality.”

Another agreed: “Worst value for money ever! The tins are extremely small, it took half a can to do a pair of new boots.”

But others consider the Crep Protect Shoe Protector Spray an essential, with one saying: “Bought as a gift for someone who advises me that this is the best long lasting product on the market for keeping trainers like new. Value twin pack purchased.”

Whilst someone else wrote: “This waterproofing spray is easy to use and I got a good overall coverage of my boots. It doesn’t affect the colour of the leather and hopefully will keep the boots waterproof… haven’t worn them in the rain yet.”
