Pictures from the scene of a murder in Stoke Newington show forensic officers searching for clues. A 45-year-old man was gunned down in Dynevor Road, near the High Street, shortly after 12.15am this morning (Tuesday, August 5).

The Metropolitan Police has confirmed the attacker is still on the loose, and has appealed to the public for help. Forensic officers first appeared at the scene at about 7am this morning.

MyLondon understands the victim’s body was taken away from the scene in a private ambulance at 9.30am. Youth worker Liza Dodds, who lives on Dynevor Road, said she saw a policeman give CPR to the victim for 30 minutes. “It then got really crowded,” she added. “There was just a lot of sirens and everything. It was only an hour or so ago that they took away the body.

“It’s very strange because it’s nice here. The houses are worth £1m. But, I don’t suffer the consequences of what’s happening.” Roger Singh, who was in the garden when he heard gunshots ring out across the area, echoed these sentiments.

He told MyLondon: “It is a bit shocking as I have young kids. They go to the school round the corner. It’s not normally like this round here.” Another resident said they initially thought the sound of gunshots were fireworks as they were awoken in the early hours of this morning.

Four forensic officers in scrubs and masks were at the scene on Tuesday afternoon, alongside several police officers. A Lime bike was lying flat in the cordoned area.

Scotland Yard said the man’s next of kin have been told and a post-mortem examination will take place.

Detective Chief Superintendent Brittany Clarke said: “Our team of detectives and forensic specialists are working at pace to establish the full circumstances that led to the tragic death of this man.

“We understand this incident will cause concern within the Stoke Newington community, however we do believe this to be an isolated incident at this stage of the investigation with no wider risk to the general public.”

Anyone who can help is asked to call police on 101, quoting CAD 108/5AUG. Information can also be provided anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
