Wasps are one of the only downsides of the summer months approaching, but before you reach for chemical insecticides try this eco-friendly and natural three-ingredient spray
This eco-friendly spray will eliminate wasps from your home so easily.
Wasps are almost always unwelcome guests in any home, as are hornets, but in the summer months, they can easily get into your home as most people enjoy opening their windows and letting in some of the fresh, cooler air inside. While there are harsh chemical insecticides available at your local shops, not everyone is keen on spraying them in their homes, and if you would prefer a more eco-friendly option, then this homemade life hack is perfect for you.
Requiring only three common household items, this expert-approved spray will banish “aggressive” wasps from your home with ease, and it won’t put much of a dent into your wallet.
As reported in The Express, a gardening expert and founder of Kitty and Bean, Robynn explained that after “aggressive” wasps invaded her home, she came up with an ingenious spray that only uses three ingredients that rid her home of wasps pretty much instantly.
“Once in my space, I want the wasps dead. They can live outside (as long as they’re not building a big fat nest in the yard), but coming inside is not okay. I also don’t believe in using toxic chemicals in my home, if at all avoidable. So, I went on a hunt and found a wasp-killer recipe that really worked. Shockingly well actually. So, now I’m going to share the recipe for this magical stuff with you!”
The three ingredients you’ll need are 25 drops of eucalyptus essential oil, 25 drops of peppermint essential oil, and a few teaspoons of dish soap. Grab an empty spray bottle for your mixture, and pop the three ingredients in, before adding hot water slowly but surely until it’s filled up about a third of the bottle. Eucalyptus essential oil can be purchased from Sainsbury’s for £4.85 or Dunelm for £5. Peppermint essential oil can be bought from Amazon for £2.97, or Dunelm for £5. Washing up liquid, if you don’t have any handy, can be purchased from Morrisons for 55p, or Asda for 55p.
You need to add the water slowly, because the mixture may start bubbling as you go, and once you’re finished give it all a good shake to mix it up and then start spraying when the wasps appear. They will quickly be eliminated from your home, the expert explains.
“I have found that the more concentrated your solution is, the quicker the wasp dies, However, it’s also more harsh on plants and surfaces, so don’t overdo it!”, she warns. Equally, essential oils can be toxic to pets, so make sure you’re careful when applying this spray to ensure the safety of your furry friends.
