This deliciously fruity summer drink is super easy to make and ‘much better than anything you can buy in the shops’, according to one Tiktok creator. And fans have been falling over themselves to make it after being dazzled by its ‘amazing colour and taste’ – here’s how to make it
“All your dreams are made of strawberry lemonade” once sang Oasis – and they weren’t wrong.
The deliciously refreshing beverage perfectly captures the essence of summer, combining the tartness of freshly-squeezed lemons with the sweetness of ripe strawberries. And the vibrant red hue infuses the drink with a burst of colour, making it as visually appealing as it is delicious.
Whether enjoyed over ice on a scorching hot summer’s day or served as a fancy mocktail at a social gathering, it’s a beverage that suits any occasion. Some variations include adding mint leaves for a hint of freshness or blending in additional fruits like raspberries or blueberries for added complexity.
But TikToker Jacob King has played it straight, with his simple recipe for the drink racking up 2.3million views and counting. “A deliciously fruity summer drink that is super easy to make and much better than anything you can buy in the shops,” he says.
Here’s how to make it this weekend:
Ingredients
For the lemon base
Six big juicy lemons (remove zest from 3),
1/3 cup sugar,
For the strawberry base
250g strawberries (topped),
1/3 cup sugar,
One cup water,
Between 1 to 2 litres sparkling water
Method
Firstly, make sure you wash and dry the fruits before preparing them.
Lemon base: Remove the zest from three of the lemons, then simply juice the fruits using either a lemon squeezer or with your hands if you’re feeling strong enough! Next, combine the zest and the sugar with your fingers, squeezing the juice out of the zest into the sugar. Then combine it all with the lemon juice.
Strawberry base: Pop the sugar, topped strawberries and 1/3 cup of water into a pan then simmer on a low heat for around 10-15 minutes, making sure you stir often. Once the strawberries have broken down and get all syrupy, sieve the seeds out and allow to cool. Next, simply mix the strawberry base with the lemon base along with the sparkling water and enjoy with ice cubes!
