A man has taken to social media to share the meals his high school served up – saying he and his classmates would ‘pray to not get food poisoning’ after every meal
A fed-up student has slammed their school for serving “cheap and nasty” dinners with no nutritional value. Despite the country’s drive to encourage children to “eat healthily”, the American student claims their school continues to serve up chips, crisps, burgers, and cheese sauce on an almost daily basis.
They said on Reddit: “In my years in high school I compiled some pics of the horrible things that got served that no one questioned. Here are some of the worst ones. It really is ironic given how adamant they all are about ‘eating healthy by including every food group’.”
In one picture, the student was given a bagged pepperoni pizza alongside some “sorry-looking” broccoli, while in another they were served a dry hotdog with French fries. They added: “Our school cafeteria has the layout for it and everything – they just don’t try at all.

“They haven’t used the sandwich bar in months so everyone just grabs whatever special they put out (usually the only option) and prays to not get food poisoning.” While most users shared their disgust over the school meals, others compared the meals to what is likely served up in prisons.

One user said: “I got heartburn just by looking at this. There’s nothing fresh to eat.” Another user added: “The food they served me in prison looked better than all these examples, every day.” A third user said: “What a sorry-looking broccoli. And that’s the only green veg. Jheez.” One more user added: “They are eating just as bad or worse at home too. The whole American food system sucks. Home and school.”
