Wannabe millionaires are convinced they can make mega money fast after spotting what appears to be a supermarket pricing glitch over packs of Mr Kipling Bramley Apple Pies

Eagle-eyed shoppers reckon they’ve discovered a supermarket glitch that could make them rich.

With food prices spiralling in recent years, it’s no surprise that Brits love a bargain. We’re masters at seeking out BOGOF offers, Mix & Match deals, or spotting a yellow-sticker reduction two minutes before the store shuts. Many side hustlers have even resorted to bulk buying sale items at supermarkets in the hope of reselling them using services like Amazon FBA, despite outrage from fellow shoppers.

But now, Brits are convinced they could earn mega money by purchasing Mr Kipling’s Apple Pies and then returning them for a refund…

Posting on Reddit, one shopper posted a photo of a UK supermarket, although they didn’t name which one, that is currently selling a six-pack of Mr Kipling Bramley Apple Pies for £3. However, the Mix & Match deal allows customers to buy two boxes for a cheaper price of £2.50 – saving them a whopping £4.50.

“Feel like I’ve broken the system,” they captioned the post – which has amassed thousands of likes and swathes of comments. “Buy two, then return one for 50p profit. Keep repeating until you’re a millionaire,” one user suggested. Another did the maths and said whoever tries this would finish with £1 million and two million boxes of Mr Kipling Pies.

“Well you could always just return them all separately then you’d have £2,000,000 and no pies,” another user suggested. The big flaw in this master plan is that the receipt would show the discount price – so it’s unlikely the supermarket would only issue a refund for one item at the RRP.

Other users suggested the odd pricing may be because the supermarket has ordered ‘too many’ boxes or the product is approaching its sell-by date, meaning the supermarket will want to get rid of them fast. Meanwhile, many slammed the retailer for charging £2.50 for what they described as ‘cheap pies’.
