Amazon is back with refreshed Echo Spot speaker and it’s cheaper if you have Prime.
Amazon is reviving its little Echo Spot speaker and this time it’s a bit less creepy. The previous Spot model – which was discontinued back in 2019 – featured a tiny camera which didn’t go down too well with users wanting to pop it on their bedside tables. This fully rebooted Spot has ditched that live-action video function with it now getting a bigger circular display and improved front-firing directional speaker. That should help users see what’s on the screen and get a much better audio experience as well.
It comes in three different colours – Black, Glacier White, or Ocean Blue – and costs a pretty hefty £79.99.
Sound a bit pricey? Luckily, those with a Prime account can currently grab this smart gadget for just £49.99. Amazon says it has launched this bug discount to celebrate next week’s Prime Day event which starts on July 16.

So what else is coming to the Echo Spot?
Of course, being an Echo it offers instant access to Alexa allowing you to shout orders at it and get a useful response.
You can also turn off the lights, set timers and check the daily weather before hopping out of bed just by asking Alexa.
There’s full access to your Alexa Routines as well to help automate daily tasks. For example, set up a routine that gently wakes you with music and gradual light. Or, set an evening routine that dims the lights, lowers the thermostat and plays music.
Amazon is also boasting that the new Echo Spot is designed with a variety of custom-designed clock faces, new visual animations, and fun colours that makes it easy to see the responses to these requests at a glance.
