The police are carrying out further enquiries, with detectives urging people to come forward if they have any information about the stabbing.
Detective Sergeant Matt Summerfield, who is leading the investigation, said: “We know this incident has caused significant concern in the community and we are working hard to identify anyone who may have been involved. This attack took place on a summer’s evening and we know there were other people in the area or close by.
“We have spoken to a number of these individuals but believe there are others who have information that could help our investigation. If you think you may have seen something or noticed anyone acting suspiciously, please contact us immediately.
“There will be an increased police presence in the area over the coming days and officers will be happy to speak to anyone who has any questions.” Anyone with information should call 101 with reference 6961/18May.
