Property experts at Rightmove unveil the happiest places to live at the end of each year, with the East Anglian market town of Woodbridge taking the top spot late in 2024.

As one of the most desirable commuter towns in Eastern England, this Suffolk gem is nestled alongside the stunning Suffolk Coast Heaths, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty teeming with wildlife and walking trails, making it a haven for dog owners.

This delightful location offers convenient access to London, featuring its own railway station that enables commuters to reach Liverpool Street Station in just 90 minutes.

According to Rightmove’s data, it will also cost you just over the £444,000 mark to get a house – not cheap, by any means, but it pales in comparison to London’s £680,000.

Given its proximity to both the capital and the sea, it’s hardly surprising that Woodbridge has garnered such a cheerful reputation. The town also enjoys close links to Ipswich and other popular commuter towns and cities.

Essex’s Colchester is merely half an hour away, while a brief drive north leads to Southwold, home to one of the UK’s top attractions – its pier.

In London, the happiest place to reside is Richmond, which also secured second place nationwide.
