The UK is full of hidden adrenaline gems for adventurous youngsters – and now, the ultimate hotspots have been revealed, with one town north of London taking the stop spot

During the school summer holidays, parents across the UK will be searching for exciting ways to keep their children active and entertained. From climbing walls and skateparks to go-karting tracks, the UK is full of thrilling hidden gems for adventurous youngsters.

The toy specialists at Outdoor Toys have crunched the numbers on a range of high-energy kids’ activities – such as parkour and horse riding – to reveal the best UK cities for adrenaline-packed fun.

Topping the list is Watford, which has been named the UK’s ultimate hotspot for kids’ adventure activities this summer, earning an impressive adrenaline score of 9.65 out of 10.

It’s especially ideal for young horse lovers, boasting six riding centres within a 10-mile radius, equating to 4.6 per 100,000 residents. Watford also offers access to both skateparks and climbing walls, each with 3.8 venues per 100,000 people.

In second place is Bolton, with a score of 7.93, making it an excellent destination for keeping kids active during the school break.

The town has a balanced offering of facilities, including 2.7 horse riding centres and trampoline parks per 100,000 people. There’s also a wide selection of go-kart tracks and climbing walls, making it a well-rounded choice for energetic families.

Slough comes in third, scoring 7.61, and stands out for its family-friendly thrill factor. The Berkshire town features 4.2 horse riding centres, 2.4 skateparks, and 2.4 trampoline parks per 100,000 residents, providing plenty of action-packed options for kids of all ages.

When it comes to specific activities, Bolton leads the way for trampoline parks, with five located within a 10-mile radius, or 2.7 per 100,000 people.

Meanwhile, Cambridge offers the best access to skateparks, with ten available nearby, averaging 6.5 per 100,000 residents.

For fans of aerial adventures, Bournemouth takes the crown, offering six facilities in the area – 3.1 per 100,000 people – perfect for kids looking for that high-flying adrenaline rush.
