The Chase star Darragh Ennis shared a tricky film soundtrack quiz that he says is guaranteed to stump even the biggest movie buffs. How many can you answer correctly?
Calling all movie buffs, this quiz is for you.
One of the most underrated parts of a film is the soundtrack. The music you hear as your favourite characters face danger or reach the end of their mission can really tie the whole scene together, but it often blends into the background so seamlessly most of us don’t pay attention to it. But, if asked to name some of the most famous movie soundtracks of all time, how well do you think you’d do?
That’s the challenge set by Darragh Ennis – better known as The Menace on the ITV quiz show The Chase – in a new video posted to his TikTok account. And he’s convinced not “many people” will be able to get all five questions correct.
The video above was shared on Darragh’s @bonesgiles account, and the quiz master starts by explaining how it works. He plays five clips of music taken from “really well-known movies” and all you have to do is name which film the music comes from. He claimed the clips “start off easy and get harder” as he added: “I bet you can’t get all five.”
You’ll need to watch the TikTok video to take part in the quiz so you can hear the sound clips, but Darragh does helpfully give a small hint for each of the pieces of music he selects. For the first piece, the boffin said it was taken from a “very successful movie franchise”, with the piece appearing in more than one film.
Next up was a track that comes from “one of the highest-rated movies of all time”, while the third was “an absolute box office smash hit that won loads of Oscars”.
The last two were declared as being “a little bit harder” than the first three. As a hint, Darragh helpfully told us the fourth track was from a film which has a “sequel due out later this year”, so any cinema buffs who know the film calendar for the year should be able to work it out. The final track was from a “very successful movie from the 1980s”.
