Darragh Ennis, also known as ‘The Menace’ on The Chase, claimed ‘nobody’ can get all five questions in his chemistry quiz correct – but do you think you’d stand a chance in the challenge?
The Chase is a great way to get seriously competitive with friends and family on a weeknight.
But if you fancy yourself as one of the quiz-heads hoping to beat the Chasers, we’ve got just the challenge. Darragh Ennis, also known as “The Meance” on the ITV hit show, shared a periodic table quiz which he reckons you can’t get all five right on – but do you think you can prove him wrong?
Completing quizzes, brainteasers, and general knowledge questions are known to be a great way to keep your brain in tip-top condition, ensuring you can think quickly on your feet when necessary. And taking to his TikTok 166,400 followers, Darragh said: “I bet you can’t get all five”, before launching into the first tricky question.
The quiz questions were:
- What is the lightest metal on the periodic table?
- There are two elements named after women scientists on the table, but what are they?
- Which element, used to give colour to red-coloured fireworks, is named after a village in Scotland?
- Which metal, with a name meaning ‘heavy stone’ in Swedish, has the highest melting point at over 3,400 degrees Celsius?
- What is the most reactive element on the table?
Tricky right? You can stick a timer on and see how well you do. But if you’re stumped, the answers are all below. Just no peeking…
The answers are as follows – and give yourself a massive pat on the back if you got them correct:
- Lithium – which is a major component in your phone battery
- Curium, named after Madame Curie, and Meitnerium, named after Lise Meitner
- Strontium is named after a fishing village in Scotland
- Tungsten
- Francium
How did you do? Did you manage to get them all right and prove Darragh wrong, or are you a chemistry novice who needs to work on your general knowledge?
