The exact time temperatures are set to hit 30C again in London

Temperatures in London are set to hit 30C again this week, after a scorching Tuesday which saw climes of 33.4C in parts of the capital amid the fourth heatwave of the year. Today (Thursday, August 14). Londoners can enjoy a breather from the very hottest weather, staying comfortably in the 20s throughout the day from 9am – reaching a peak of 27C from 4pm to 7pm.

But tomorrow (Friday, August 15) will see a return of higher temperatures, hitting 25C by lunchtime and steadily rising to a top temperature of 30C by 5pm, kicking off the start of the weekend.

The Met Office stated: “Another warm day is expected across much of the UK today. Any low cloud will quickly clear up in the morning to leave a fine, dry day with plenty of sunshine, feeling very warm in mostly light winds. Maximum temperature 28 °C. Tonight will be dry, with long spells of sunshine through the evening and variable amounts of cloud. It will be mild overnight, with generally light winds and a minimum temperature 16 °C.

“Friday will be dry with plenty of sunshine at first. Some low cloud moving in along the coast later in the day, spreading inland during the evening.”

Forecast for London day-by-day

  • Thursday, August 14: Today will be sunny, with temperatures sitting comfortably in the 20s throughout the day.
  • Friday, August 15: The weather will step up a notch, with temperatures at 25C by lunchtime before hitting 30C at 5 – kicking off a great start to the weekend.
  • Saturday, August 16: A milder day than Friday, with warm and sunny weather throughout the afternoon. Maximum temperature 25C.
  • Sunday, August 17: A very similar warm day to Saturday, with temperatures in the 20s for much of the afternoon.
  • Monday, August 18: The start of next week continues the warm and dry spell, with temperatures maxing at 26C.
  • Tuesday, August 19: A cloudy start in the early hours is replaced by hotter weather, as climes reach 27C.
  • Wednesday, August 20: Sunny intervals changing to partly cloudy, with a chance of light rain in the evening. Maximum temperature 27C.
