One remote beach in Cornwall is the perfect spot for getting away from the crowds and relaxing while watching the varied wildlife
Near Land’s End in Cornwall is one hidden beach that is a 15-20 minute walk from the nearest car park, making it the perfect spot away from the crowds for some peace and quiet.
Nanjizal Beach, also known as Mill Bay, is a breathtakingly beautiful little cove that remains relatively untouched thanks to its remote location, and lack of nearby amenities.
Not only is it perfect for relaxation, Nanjizal is also a great place for those looking to explore, with an abundance of caves and rock formations to keep you busy.
On the south side of the beach is a stunning rock archway, known as the Song of the Sea or Zawn Pyg, which typically has refreshingly clear water running through.
CornishSecrets recommends staying at the beach until the late afternoon for an amazing view of the sun shining through the arch.
While swimming in the sea is not recommended while visiting Nanjizal, with its remote location meaning there are no lifeguards nearby, there are two pools within the cave under the arch.
These are called the Big and Little Muzzan and are a great spot for taking a dip when the sea is calm. Although, Cornwall Beaches warns that the far end of the cave is sometimes affected by Atlantic swells, which can be very powerful at times.
If swimming in caves isn’t quite your thing, there’s plenty of wildlife to spot at Nanjizal. Birds including Chiffchaffs, Whitethroat and Blackcap, are known to breed in the area.
Seals can often be spotted in the sea, and there are plenty of rock pools in which you can spot all manners of different sea creatures.
And unlike some of the big touristy beaches, Nanjizal does allow dogs, meaning the whole family and your precious canine can all enjoy this hidden gem.
