Waltham Forest, a borough in North East London, was last year crowned the best place in the UK to raise a family, according to research by home security firm ADT. The study took into account factors such as school ratings, house prices, bus fares, crime and burglary rates, with Waltham Forest coming out on top.
The borough ranked within the top 15 for the lowest number of burglaries, came seventh for schools, and was joint sixth for its abundance of green spaces. The property prices also played a part in its top ranking.
Rightmove reports that the average house price in Waltham Forest is £556K, which is significantly lower than the London average of £698K. The borough boasts famous natives like David Beckham and film director Alfred Hitchcock.

Foodies will also be pleased with the borough’s culinary offerings, including SlowBurn London, which has earned a solid 4.7 stars on Google reviews. Their diverse menu features mouth-watering dishes like Striata aubergine, San Marzano sauce, Bulgarian buffalo cheese, crispy garlic, and lovage.
One satisfied customer even wrote: “Omg so now I know what it is all about! Went in for Sunday lunch, and the atmosphere is really chilled (and obviously different to normal restaurant but jean maker surroundings) but very relaxing and pleasant.”
“All staff is friendly and very nice. And then the food! So somebody has been really taking time working out and playing around with flavours as every dish we try is tasty and different to what i have ever tried before.”
But other boroughs also windled their way into the top 10 too. Havering, Bexley, Bromley, Hounslow and Hillingdon, are all up there with the best spots to raise kids.
