Oasis are in the process of gearing up for their highly anticipated reunion tour next month – and it’s been unveiled that the main influence behind their comeback is none other than Noel’s daughter, Anaïs. The Gallagher brothers, Liam and Noel, have been notoriously at odds since Noel dramatically left the band in 2009, but their feud dates back even further.
Liam, now 52, once allegedly cast doubt on the paternity of Noel’s eldest daughter, Anaïs – now 25 – back in May 2000. Noel, aged 58, had Anaïs with his ex-wife, Meg Matthews.
Over time, the Mancunian rock icons have been locked in numerous spats, often exchanging barbs through social media and press interviews. Fans and their mother Peggy alike longed for the day when Liam and Noel would bury the hatchet and perform together again. In 2023, there were hints from both brothers of a willingness to reconcile.
Then, nearly 15 years after Oasis split, the world was taken by surprise with the announcement that the band would reunite on stage. “The guns have fallen silent,” declared the brothers.
Now, it’s been suggested that Anaïs, who has maintained a close relationship with uncle Liam, played a pivotal role in mending fences, reports the Mirror.
Insiders allege that Anaïs, a model and photographer, has been a pillar of support for Noel following his separation from Sara MacDonald. An insider said: “Anaïs could tell her dad really wanted both his brothers, Liam and Paul, by his side after the split so was determined to get them back in touch.”
Anaïs Gallagher’s close ties with Liam’s sons, Gene and Lennon, proved instrumental when she broached the idea of their father listening to her. A source told The Sun: “It was all very slow-going behind the scenes to get the brothers talking again. Anaïs spending so much time with her dad allowed her to realise how much he missed his brother, despite the jibes they both made.
The insider added: “She managed to sow the seeds of reconciliation on both sides. Thanks to her close relationship with Liam, she was able to call him. Once Liam called Noel, the rest was up to them.”
However, a spokesperson for the band has refuted these claims. Despite previous disagreements between Anaïs, Gene, and Lennon, the cousins presented a united front at a Chanel fashion show in Manchester in December 2023, where they were seen smiling alongside Rúben Dias. The forthcoming tour, set to commence on July 4 at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium, is expected to provide a significant boost to the economy.
Fans are predicted to shell out an average of £682.80 each on everything from tickets and travel to food, drink, shopping, and accommodation, resulting in an estimated total expenditure of £940.3 million throughout the entire tour. This figure is not far off the £997 million fans splashed out during Taylor Swift’s 2024 UK Eras Tour.
However, the net economic impact of Oasis’s tour – estimated at £274.4 million across the four host cities – is expected to significantly exceed the £122 million reported for Swift’s 15 UK shows, due to a higher proportion of spending remaining within local economies.
