It is surprisingly possible to ride camels without having to jet off to the desert

There is a little-known animal park in the UK, where you can ride camels, walk llamas and alpacas, and even play some crazy golf.

Oasis Camel Park in Halesworth, Suffolk is the UK’s only camel park and is a must-see for any animal lovers, and is a perfect day trip for any family looking to keep their kids active over the summer holidays.

When you first arrive at the park you can hop on the land train for an exploration of the land that will teach you all about the camel’s environment. Then head to a Cuddle-A-Pet session where you can get up close to the park’s guinea pigs and rabbits.

Following this, visitors can head over for a Meet-A-Camel session where they can learn about the history and evolution of the animal. Then it’s time for a camel ride, an amazing experience that should not be missed.

The camel rides last for about 10-12 minutes, although longer rides can be booked in advance in one of the park’s special experiences packages. These packages also include the chance to walk a llama or alpaca around the grounds.

While the park’s primary focus is camels, llamas, and alpacas, there are still plenty of other animals to see too, including wallabies, lemurs, meerkats and marmosets.

And, as if this wasn’t enough, after spending time with the animals you can play some crazy golf, enjoy some go-karting, explore the mini maze, or have some fun on the jumping pillow.

Those who have visited Oasis Camel Park have left rave reviews on TripAdvisor, with one writing: “We all had a lovely time and thoroughly enjoyed seeing the animals, there are also play areas suitable for all ages and space for the kids to run around.

“The cafe was very reasonably priced and the food was fresh and tasty. The three boys had a camel ride which they absolutely loved, thanks Boris, Pedro and Sam!”

While another added: “A great place to occupy three teenagers for a couple of hours. Really good value for money. Fantastic selection of animals to interact with. I’d definitely recommend buying a bag of feed from reception.”

And a third penned: “I have a season ticket and these are amazing value for money. Love all the animals and the staff are brilliant, so friendly. The food is just what I like in that it is basic but very good and freshly cooked. For the price, it is amazing compared to other places that rip you off.”
