The coastal area is famous for its candy coloured houses and sandy beaches – and it is easy to see why it has been named one of the UK’s prettiest towns and villages
If you’re dreaming of the perfect seaside getaway, Tenby in Pembrokeshire should be at the top of your list. This Welsh gem is celebrated for its postcard-perfect harbour town vibes and its array of pastel-hued houses that could give any Italian coast a run for its money.
Tenby’s charm doesn’t stop at its delightful harbour – it’s also steeped in history with its 13th-century walls and the remnants of Tenby Castle adding to its picturesque coastline known for pristine sandy beaches and crystal-clear waters.
But it’s not just about the views, as Tenby offers a treasure trove of activities. The Tenby Museum and Art Gallery boasts intriguing exhibits like a 16th-century cannon, while The Tudor Merchant’s House brings the 1500s to life with its authentic merchant shop and bustling kitchen.
FBM Holidays has placed Tenby second on its list of the UK’s prettiest towns and villages. This ranking was calculated using various metrics, including Instagram hashtag popularity, mentions in articles praising the UK’s beauty, proximity to National Trust sites, and the abundance of Google images, reports the Express.
FBM Holidays said: “We are thrilled that colourful seaside Tenby, with its 13th-century town walls and sandy beaches came in a close second, making it the prettiest town in Wales.”
It’s official – this spot has hit the top of the charts for having the most overall awards, nestled within the stunning Pembrokeshire Coast National Park and home to not one, but three Blue Flag Tenby beaches.
Eager visitors have been singing its praises on travel review platforms like Tripadvisor, especially when it comes to Castle Beach, one of its crown jewels.
