Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis follow the royal tradition upheld by their parents Prince William and Princess Kate
Even Royal children have to abide by dinner-table rules, much to their chagrin. Prince William and Kate have established a set of guidelines for their three children, as revealed by a veteran chef at Buckingham Palace.
Darren McGrady, who served in the Royal household for 15 years, commended the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge for maintaining tradition, according to the Express.
McGrady disclosed that the three Royal children – George, 12, Charlotte, 10, and Louis, sevem – were not permitted to join their parents or the ‘adults’ at the dinner table until they had mastered “they have learned the art of polite conversation”. This rule was consistently enforced, even during festive occasions like Christmas, the former Royal chef stated.
This custom has been a long-standing tradition at Buckingham Palace, dating back to when William and Harry were children. In an interview with Today, McGrady also mentioned that the Royal children’s nannies were tasked with “educating their palates” – ensuring they always consumed balanced meals.
McGrady commented: “The royal nursery wasn’t just for educating the minds of the young royals but educating their palates, too.
“Nanny always had control of the menu and made sure they ate balanced meals that included not only lots of healthy vegetables but introduced them to new grown-up dishes too.”
Getting the children to eat their vegetables was always a challenge – which was also the case for William and Harry as kids.
So McGrady said he would come up with clever ways to inspire them to eat their veggies.
He would hide the offending vegetables into some of their favourite foods, like cakes and sweets.
Of course, McGrady confessed, being a Royal doesn’t stop the occasional treat, too – because just as Princess Diana would take her sons to McDonald’s for the occasional burger and fries, so too do William and Kate from time to time.
