Beauty editor Laura Mulley has found a new favourite brow gel in MAC’s latest launch, saying that it’s perfect for giving long-lasting lift and hold to thick eyebrows
For neat, groomed eyebrows, nothing beats using one of the best brow gels. Quick and easy to apply, they can lift, separate and control unruly brow hairs, and make sparse arches look fuller.
Thanks to diligent use of my favourite brow serum, I’m lucky enough to have fairly substantial eyebrows, but I’ll always sweep a brow gel through them each morning to keep them looking their best. I’ve been loyal to product, REFT Brow Sculpt, since it launched, finding it to be the only product strong enough to lift and hold my thick, heavy eyebrow hairs – until now, that is.
MAC has just launched revamped its brow products and launched Pro Locked Brow Gel, priced at £24 and available to buy from MAC’s own website as well as retailers such as LookFantastic and Boots. MAC says this clear gel gives ‘a strong yet flexible hold with all-day wear and a flake-free finish’ – and I agree.
I often find that brow gel formulas are either not strong enough to lock hairs into place all day, or if they are, often leave white, flaky bits on the hairs as they dry (even my favourite REFY is guilty of this). MAC’s new launch, however, ticks both boxes.
Another reason why I love it so much is its unusual shaped brush. Made from silicone and with a trowel-shaped head, I found that the comb-like bristles were long enough to get right in between my dense brow hairs, separating and lifting them up then securing them in place.
The result is arches that stay lifted and fuller all day long – and most importantly, stay flake-free – which is why I’ve been reaching for MAC Pro Locked every day since a got it.
I also often reach for one of the best brow pencils or pens to fill in any gaps. My favourite twist-up pencil is Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz Ultra-Slim Precision Brow Pencil, £23 (I use the shade Taupe), which has a super-fine nib and a handy spoolie on the other end.
If you prefer a felt-tip pen type of brow product, I also really rate Anastasia Beverly Hills again here too, also priced at £23.
