A woman couldn’t believe her luck during a visit to TK Maxx in which she stumbled across a unusual designer piece of furniture on sale at a budget-friendly price
Everyone loves a good bargain – whether it be a charity shop gem or a clearance item discovery in a high street store. The latter proved to be the case for one happy shopper, who has claimed to have stumbled upon the “best find ever” during a visit to TK Maxx.
Danielle, who describes herself as a “professional thrifter” regularly shares the fruits of her labour on social media under her online name, Charity Shop Life. In her latest TikTok video, she expressed her disbelief after a chance visit to the discount retail giant. “I can’t believe what I found in the TK Maxx retail section,” she admitted. “This may be my best find ever and that’s saying something as I once found a £1,000 Chloe shirt for £24.”
Continuing her clip, which she recorded in the shop itself, Danielle told her followers she’d let them decide if her find was worthy of that honour. “I found this mirrored plinth side table and I thought it was just going to be a copy of something I had seen in a design book, but it turns out it is an actual Polspotten,” she said.
Polspotten is a designer brand founded in the Netherlands offering a wide variety of unique and unusual homeware items.
“Do you know how expensive these are?” Danielle asked, before sharing a screenshot of the same product online, noting it’s retail price of €900 (£767).
She then pointed to it’s TK Maxx price sticker, which revealed it was on sale for just £45. “I wonder what it was priced at here originally,” Danielle pondered. “It’s so fun and for £45 I just couldn’t resist it,” she admitted. “I’m never going to be able to spend £900 on a mirrored side table, but I can spend £45.”
Joking that her husband must be ruing their decision to come to the shop, Danielle said as soon as the pair got home they decided to see what TK Maxx’s asking price had previously been. Removing the first red sticker, she continued: “The first reduced price was £320.”
Danielle closed with an image of her purchase stood in the middle of her living room, saying: “Now we just have to decide where it is going to go in the flat because I have no idea.”
She joked: “And no more visits to TK Maxx for a little while!”
Writing in response, one TikTok user declared: “You are so ridiculously good at spotting things and knowing what they are! Such a find!”
A second added: “No way should you have gone through your life WITHOUT that. Epic purchase.”
While a third person recalled: “I remember seeing them last year and I am sure they were £450/£500.”
A fourth TikTok user praised the item, writing: “Absolutely stunning, I would’ve bought it too, it’s a bit Rubik’s Cube-y, it’s gorgeous!”
Whilst a fifth quipped: “Why did you post this? I now need it!” To which Danielle responded: “Ages ago I saw a video of a disco chair and I went to like 5 TK Maxx and didn’t find it so I’m sorry I’ve passed this pain onto you now.”
