The Mexican high street restaurant Tortilla will be giving away free burritos from 2pm today at restaurant sites across the UK – but as with every deal like this, there is a catch
Tortilla is giving away half a million free burritos today to celebrate World Burrito Day.
The Mexican high street restaurant chain will be giving away free burritos from 2pm today at restaurant sites across the UK. However, as with every deal like this, there is a catch. To get the freebie you must be a Club Tortilla member. This is the restaurant chain’s loyalty scheme where you can earn stamps for each meal you order at Tortilla – once you have purchased five mains you get your sixth one for free. Tortilla Members are also given exclusive offers and discounts.
The freebies you can claim today are the medium burrito or the naked burrito bowl – with vegan, veggie and meat versions all available. The burrito consists of a toasted flour tortilla wrap filled with your choice of rice, beans, protein, salsa and guacamole. The Naked Burrito is everything from the original but served in a bowl instead. These usually would set you back around £9.
Some of the fillings you can have in your burrito or burrito bowl include Mexican or coriander rice, chicken, beef, pork, chorizo, romaine lettuce, black and pinto beans, grilled veg, vegan chilli, Monterey jack cheese, pickled onions and sweetcorn salsa.
To get a free burrito, customers will need to sign up to Club Tortilla, verify their account, and download the loyalty card to their Apple or Android phone wallet. They will then need to scan the loyalty card at the till to claim. Only one burrito can be claimed per person, per transaction and it’s only available whilst stocks last – so you will need to be quick to grab the freebie.
Customers should also be aware that the offer will not be available from tortilla delivery-only kitchens and the following sites will also not be participating:
- Bristol Airport
- Euston Station
- Gatwick Airport
- Leeds Skelton Lake Services
- Manchester Piccadilly Station
- Middlesex University
- Sussex University
- Brunel University
- Salford University
- Swansea University
Tortilla marketing director Megan Burton-Brown said: “Tortilla exists to make life better with burritos and what better way to celebrate than with burritos for all on World Burrito Day! This year we’ve made our giveaway bigger and better with half a million reasons for life to be better.”
