Tragedy as man, 24, found dead on M4 slip road by police

Emergency services closed the motorway on Saturday evening as they attended the scene near Bridgend

The body of a 24 year old man has been discovered on a slip road after police received reports of the man in distress on an M4 footbridge nearby.

The motorway was shut near Bridgend, Wales on Saturday, December 6 as emergency services responded to the scene with paramedics unsuccessfully attempting resuscitation.

South Wales Police received reports of a man in distress on the M4 footbridge near Junction 36 shortly before 9:30pm on Saturday. Upon officers’ arrival the body of the 24 year old was located on the slip road nearby.

South Wales Ambulance Service attended the scene along with police and CSI and unsuccessfully attempted resuscitation on the man.

The man has been identified as a 24 year old man from Litchard, Bridgend with his family confirming his identity. The family are receiving support, reports Wales Online.

A spokesperson from South Wales Police said: “Officers were called to the M4 footbridge near Junction 36 shortly before 9:30pm on Saturday December 6 following a report of a man in distress.”

“The body of a man was located on the slip road nearby upon emergency services arrival. Ambulance unsuccessfully attempted resuscitation. The motorway was briefly closed in both directions to allow for police and CSI attendance.

“The man has been identified as a 24 year old man from Litchard, Bridgend. His family are aware and have confirmed ID, and are being supported.”
