‘Tragic’ death of woman, 21, in Limehouse leads to Met Police increasing officer numbers in Tower Hamlets

A woman in her 40s has been arrested on suspicion of the murder of a 21-year-old woman who was known to her in Limehouse yesterday (Thursday, May 23). Police were called by the London Ambulance Service (LAS) at about 2.30pm to Ratcliffe Lane, following a report of an unresponsive woman at the scene.

Despite the efforts of the emergency services, the woman, aged 21, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. Her next of kin have been informed.

The woman in her 40s was taken to hospital, where she remains. Her condition has been assessed as non-life-threatening. She has been arrested on suspicion of murder.

Detectives from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command have been informed and are leading the investigation. The family are being supported by specialist-trained officers.
