A woman has tried and tested a trick to take an extra bag on board flights when travelling – people say the trick really works and allows holidaymakers to save money
Packing for holidays can feel like a challenge, especially when it comes to hand luggage and the various rules surrounding what you can and cannot take onboard a flight.
One avid traveller and popular travel content creator has come up with a genius method to beat strict airline hand luggage rules, and get an extra bag on board – and best of all, it will only set you back £1.55. This hack has already saved her hundreds of pounds on pricey airline bag fees.
The content creator known as ‘Ms Garn Again’ visited 54 countries and 74 cities. She’s raked in over 84million views on her TikTok page where she shares her top tips for travelling to unique and underrated destinations, as well as on her Instagram page. Explaining her luggage hack, she said you can avoid baggage fees often found on budget airlines when you’re only allowed an under seat bag.
On a recent trip to the airport, Ms Garn Again said: “Do not pay extra baggage fees. You can get additional luggage for £1.55.
“If you’re like me and and have decided to catch a super cheap flight, that only comes with your personal item bag then this is the hack that you need. I’ve decided to bring a bag that is bigger than the requirements and I know it, so I’m going to have to use my baggage trip.
“So you go through Duty Free but you’re not going to exit just yet.” She said you need to grab a bottle of water for £1.45 – one of the cheaper items at Duty Free – as well as a 10p carrier bag. Ms Garn Again has successfully used this method at multiple UK airports, including London Stansted, London Luton, and Gatwick.
Popular airline Ryanair states: “Your duty-free bag is permitted in the cabin along with your cabin bags.” Meanwhile a London Stanstead Airport representative added: “All airlines flying from London Stansted Airport allow you to take one bag of airport shopping on board along with your hand luggage.”
After sharing her hack, hundreds of people comments on Ms Garn Again’s video. One individual said the trick works, and added: “Been doing this for years! Also when going through security I have two bags of toiletries and just put them in different trays! Security don’t know who’s tray is who’s because so many!”
Another commented: “Been doing this for years. Always works.” One added: “One small carrier isn’t going to make much difference.”
One other added: “This is such a great trick! Saved it for my next flight.”
