A student has shared her shock after hearing what a set of parents decided to name their twins – and it has made her second-guess the choices some adults make in life

When naming a baby, it’s important to consider how their moniker could impact their life – from childhood through to adulthood. But while this is strongly encouraged, some parents simply shrug off the advice and continue with their plan to name their child whatever they want.

That’s exactly what happened to a set of twins, who shocked staff and students at their school with their names. On Reddit, a student said: “There’s a set of twins in my class named Jordan and Jordan – not pronounced the same One Jordan is pronounced normally, like the Jordan River. The other is pronounced Jor Dan. They’re in high school and know just how confusing this is!”

Wanting to know whether their name is a “tragedeigh”, an online term created to describe a “given name that has been deliberately misspelled or completely made up to appear more unique than it actually is”, they asked: “Does this count as a tragedeigh?”

In response, one user said: “It’s cruel is what it is. They’re already twins, give them their own name.”

Another user added: “That’s paperwork nightmare: their birth dates, pictures, last names are already identical. Imagine all the confusion growing up.”

One more user said: “I used to work at a college and we had identical twins with the same first and last name, the only difference was their middle name.

“Same middle initial but the the actual middle name was different. And I can confirm it was a paperwork nightmare.”

Another user added: “If you decided on Jordan as a name, and ended up with twins, you do the responsible thing. You name one George(/Georgia) and one Dan(/Danielle). You do not name them both Jordan.”

While other urges prayed the twins will change their names once they’re old enough.

One more user said: “Bets who is gonna change their name legally or do them both when they get the chance.”

Another user said: “Ridiculous. And the kids themselves know this? I hope, when they’re old enough, they will change their names to something more easily individually identifiable!”

A final user said: “It would be cute if one twin was named Jordan and the other one was named Michael. This is child abuse, as neither one of them is given their own name.”

It comes after an employee admitted to being sent to HR for laughing so hard at a co-worker’s choice in baby names.

Sharing the story on Reddit, a co-worker explained a colleague had recently returned to the office to introduce her newborn twin boys after a long struggle with infertility.

While everyone was genuinely happy for her, her choice of baby names caught the team off guard.
