Two aged 23 and 55 arrested after man stabbed multiple times during ‘knife fight’ in Islington

Two men have been arrested after another man was stabbed during an alleged fight in Islington last week. Police were called to Watkinson Road, in Holloway, at around 3.45am on Saturday, May 17 when onlookers reportedly saw a group of ‘armed men’ on the residential street.

Upon arrival, officers found a severely injured man in his 20s with knife wounds to his chest and back. He was taken to a major trauma centre after being treated by multiple paramedics and London’s air ambulance.

He remains in hospital in a stable condition, according to a statement issued by the Metropolitan Police. The force also confirmed two men were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder this morning (May 22)

The pair – aged 23 and 55 – remain in custody at this stage.

A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: “Officers investigating a serious assault in Islington have arrested two men. Police were called to Watkinson Road, N7 at 03:45hrs on Saturday, 17 May following reports of a group of men carrying knives.

“On arrival, a man in his 20s was located with stab wounds to his chest and back. He remains in hospital in a stable condition.

“Enquiries have remained ongoing and on Thursday, 22 May, officers arrested a 23-year-old man and a 55-year-old man on suspicion of attempted murder. They remain in custody. “
