One of the women was allegedly pushed over and hit her head on the pavement

A woman hit her head on the pavement after she was attacked in what is believed to be a homophobic hate crime in North London. It is alleged that the attacker shouted and assaulted two women opposite the Moonlight Supermarket on Holloway Road at the junction with Madras Place, at about 3.30am on Sunday, June 22.

Police raced to the scene and rushed the two victims to hospital and were treated for bruising on their faces and bodies. One was left with cuts to her head.

The perpetrator left the scene before police arrived and is on the loose. The Met describe him as black, in his late 20s to early 30s and around 5ft 7inches with shoulder-length braids.

He was wearing white shorts and a black top. Detectives think the women were attacked due to their sexuality.

‘We urge the public to think back’

PC George Mansfield, who is leading this investigation said: “We urge anyone who may have been in the Holloway Road area on Sunday, June 22, to think back and try to remember if they saw this man. Officers have been working hard to identify this individual but we urgently need the help of the public to continue our enquiries.”
