The British Transport Police has now launched CCTV appeals
Police have launched two CCTV appeals after separate upskirting incidents on the London Underground network. The first took place aboard a Victoria line train at around 10.45pm on Saturday, July 12. A woman was travelling between Finsbury Park and Kings Cross when she was violated by a male passenger. He then followed her off the train at the latter stop, before running off.
An image released in connection shows a tall Black man of medium build with a buzzed hairstyle. He appears to be in his late twenties to late thirties, and is carrying a tote bag.
He is also wearing a green, bomber-style jacket, black trousers, black trainers, black baseball cap. and wireless headphones. He can be seen wearing sunglasses whilst walking through the station.
The second incident took place nearly two months later on the evening of Tuesday, September 9. A woman was standing on an escalator Moorgate station when she too was filmed inappropriately.
This happened at around 5.49pm, the British Transport Police (BTP) say. Footage issued in connection shows a Black or South Asian man of medium build with short black hair and a long black beard.
He is wearing a cream t-shirt, grey jogging bottoms, white trainers and a pair of glasses. Officers believe both men pictured may have information which could assist in their investigations.
Upskirting offenders use equipment like a camera or mobile phone to take photos or videos underneath a person’s clothes, without their permission. Anyone found guilty could be subject to a two year maximum prison sentence.
Anyone with information is urged to BTP by texting 61016 or calling 0800 40 50 40, quoting reference 881 of 12 July or 693 of 9 September, respectively. Anonymous reports can also be made to Crimestoppers via 0800 555 111.
