Fury and Usyk will meet in Saudi Arabia for one of the biggest fights of a generation on Saturday as they battle to become the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world
One of the most hotly anticipated fights in recent years is finally here, as Tyson Fury is set to face Oleksandr Usyk for the undisputed heavyweight title. Later today (Saturday, May 18), the Gypsy King will meet the Ukrainian national at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, in a fight dubbed the Ring of Fire.
The bout marks the first undisputed heavyweight title bout since 1999 when Lennox Lewis earned all four major world titles. Both fighters have stellar boxing records, with current WBC heavyweight champion Fury boasting 34 wins, 24 knockouts, and one 2018 draw against Deontay Wilder.
Usyk has a perfect record of 21 wins and currently holds the WBA, IBF and WBO titles. He has fought in five heavyweight clashes – including beating Anthony Joshua in 2021 – and was an Olympic, European and world champion at amateur level.

He will be in for a tough night though against his Manchester-born opponent, with Fury standing at 6ft 9in compared to his 6ft 3in and benefiting from seven inches extra reach. Despite being the favourite on the night, Fury admitted he is not underestimating his opponent.
Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk are set to lock horns in a huge bout on May 18 with each fighter attempting to etch their name in boxing history as the first undisputed heavyweight champion since 1999. The stakes couldn’t be higher as the pair will go head to head for the prestigious WBC, WBA, WBO, and IBF titles.
“Usyk’s a real bad man and to underestimate Usyk you’d be a mug,” he told Queensberry Promotions. “I’m training hard for him, I’m doing everything I can.
“I respect Usyk as a man. I respect his career as well – Olympic champion, undisputed cruiserweight champion, unified heavyweight champion. You have to respect that, I’m not fighting some guy who’s had 14 and won 11. I’m fighting the real deal.”
Both fighters are in for a massive pay day thanks to the £115 million purse. Fury, 35, is expected to walk away with a staggering £80m, with Usyk, 37, taking £35m.
