A new free streaming service is coming to the UK today and here’s how to tune in.

It’s been a long time coming but UK homes can finally tune into the Tubi streaming platform from today. The popular service, which already has over 75 million subscribers in areas such as the US, will be available to watch on devices such as your iPhone, Fire TV Sticks, Samsung screens and Android smartphones with all content viewable for free.

That’s thanks to it being supported by adverts with Tubi, unlike Amazon and Disney+, not asking for a monthly fee.

The team behind the service says UK users will be able to watch over 20,000 movies and TV episodes from the likes of Disney, Lionsgate, NBCUniversal, and Sony Pictures Entertainment.

There are also a swathe of original shows and films that are exclusively available on Tubi plus there’s some clever intelligence which learns what you like watching to make recommendations feel more personalised.

“Tubi has spent the last decade honing our approach to vast, free and fun streaming in North America, and we feel that now is the perfect time to bring that recipe to UK audiences,” said Anjali Sud, CEO of Tubi.

“We are launching with one of the largest and most diverse content libraries in the UK, designed to indulge viewers in everything from blockbusters to original stories to hidden gems. Most importantly, we’re committed to listening to what resonates with UK fans, and bringing them more and more of what they love.”

As long as you have a connected device including a smart TV, streaming stick, games console, phone or tablet you should be able to tune in to watch. It’s also possible to access the library of content via you web browser as well.

It’s rolling out from today with most homes expected to get access in the coming weeks.

Here are some of the movies currently available on Tubi in the US

The Fugitive • The Terminator • Thelma & Louise • Rain Man • Erin Brocovich • The Wedding Singer • The Expendables • The Lost World: Jurassic Park • 2 Fast 2 Furious • Batman Returns.

“At a time when traditional programming feels homogenous and when finding what to watch feels like a chore, Tubi has been effective at delivering delight beyond the monoculture with content that appeals to diverse and vibrant fandoms,” said David Salmon, EVP and Managing Director of International at Tubi.

“We believe that we can build a brilliantly broad, culturally ambitious offering that puts UK audiences back at the centre, and makes it fun and easy to enjoy great entertainment from around the world.”
