Supermarket chain Iceland is recalling a bakery item that could pose a risk to some people. The Food Standards Agency issued an alert on Wednesday evening.
It said that Iceland was recalling its Daily Bakery 4 Sub Rolls packets because they could contain barley that is not mentioned on the product’s label. This could be a health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to gluten. The specific products affected have a best before date of June 2, 2025.
The FSA said: “Iceland Foods Limited is recalling the above product and has contacted the relevant allergy support organisations, which will tell their members about the recall.
“Point of sale notices will be displayed in all Iceland retail stores that are selling this product. These notices explain to customers why the product is being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought the product.
“If you have bought the above product, do not eat it. Instead, return to any Iceland retail store where a full refund will be given. No receipt is required.”
About allergy alerts
The FSA said: “Sometimes there will be a problem with a food product that means it should not be sold. Then it might be ‘withdrawn’ (taken off the shelves) or ‘recalled’ (when customers are asked to return the product). Sometimes foods have to be withdrawn or recalled if there is a risk to consumers because the allergy labelling is missing or incorrect or if there is any other food allergy risk. When there is a food allergy risk, the FSA will issue an Allergy Alert.”
