A healthy lifestyle brand has urgently recalled a popular snack amid fears it’s been poisoned with E.coli, leading to a “do not eat” warning issued. Grape Tree has recalled Raw Unsalted Macadamia Nuts because a toxin which leads to E. coli was found in a bad batch, effecting England, Scotland, and Wales.
The recall applies to 205g packs of the snacks which have a best before date of July 11 next year. Customers must not eat nuts from a pack with the code G41 5 101 250610.
Grape Tree says customers with the batches should take the product back to the shop for a full refund. In a statement, it said: “If you have bought the above product do not eat it. Instead return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund. For more information, please email [email protected].”
The NHS says symptoms of n E.Coli infection include diarrhoea, stomach cramps and occasionally fever. About half of people with the infection will have bloody diarrhoea. People usually notice symptoms 3 to 4 days after they have been infected. But symptoms can start any time between 1 and 14 days afterwards. These symptoms can last up to 2 weeks.
The watchdog’s also issued a recent recall for Organic Alla Norma Sauce costs £3.50 for a 350g jar, with the bad batch’s code reading 140227. Customers are at risk of ingesting glass if eaten, which can be very dangerous.
