A man was left baffled, saying a buyer was ‘petty’ after the offer he made on Vinted, despite the fact that he’d already dropped the price by a significant amount
Vinted can be a real minefield, and sometimes, things can get really petty on the app thanks to users trying to bag a super-cheap bargain.
From arguments over the method the item was sent in, such as a soiled nappy, to petty penny-pinching that really gets people riled up, social media has seen its fair share of second-hand shopping beef.
Taking to X, formerly Twitter, Lewis, who uses the username @L3wis21A, simply wrote: “I hate Vinted”, because of the angering experience he’d been faced with when using the app. He was selling a Netherlands 1988 home football kit, and someone opened the conversation with “What’s the lowest you will go?”
Lewis responded by saying that he could stretch to £23, despite the fact that the kit was originally up for £30, giving him a £7 discount, which he thought was reasonable.
The buyer then demanded that he “do 20 cause I have to pay for delivery as well”, and then Lewis agreed, responding: “Yeah okay make an offer”. He was then stunned when Lewis made an offer of £19.99, rather than the £20 they’d previously agreed.
Responding to the thread, people shared their Vinted dramas, with someone messaging a man about a football shirt to say: “Hello mate where was this brought from as it looks a bit bigger than a large. Would you take £15 for it as I’ll have to wash it and with the cost of living crises going on my water and electric bill have sky rocketed look forward to hearing from you.”
The guy bluntly replied: “No, sorry, I can send you a washing machine tablet in the parcel though”, followed by a shrugging emoji. Someone replied: “That’s one of the most embarrassing ones I’ve ever seen.”
Responding to the 1p drama, someone said: “God that 1p made the biggest difference ever.” Lewis responded: “Actually so petty and for what.”
