Some Virgin Media shoppers can get an extra discount when they do this one simple thing

Virgin Media customers or those thinking of moving to the service have the chance to pocket a little extra cash thanks to the latest deal from the broadband company. Shoppers save up to £70 for themselves and also get £70 for a friend with a simple trick.

For a limited time, those who refer a friend to the service, will get a cash reward, which will be paid via PayPal or directly into bank accounts. The best bit, those who recommend don’t actually have to be Virgin Media customers themselves – handy for consumers locked into a rival deal.

The first step is to sign up to refer a friend, and once that’s done, a link will be sent over that can be shared with friends and family. They then use that link to sign up to Virgin Media – once it’s all gone through, you’ll get your cash reward and they’ll get their cash bonus too, which will take up to 3 months.

While the cash is great, this could be seen as a way of bringing down the cost of the service. For example, Virgin Media’s cheapest broadband deal is £25.99 a month with no setup fee, which is for 132Mbps on the M125 Fibre Broadband package. That would be £311.88 for the year, ignoring any inflationary price rises.

Then there’s the £60 referral reward, so that could take the price down to the equivalent of £251.88 across the year – or £20.99 a month, which is a stellar price for 132Mbps broadband.

The M125 Fibre Broadband gives a great speed at a competitive price, on a 24-month contract. Price rises to £29.49 a month from April 2026 and £32.99 from April 2027.

The cash reward depends on the service consumers sign up to, with £60 for broadband or broadband and landline. There’s £65 for Bigger Bundles if they take a TV package, while the £70 reward is reserved for those who take the Mega Volt bundle.

Mega Volt includes everything that Virgin Media and O2 offer, including broadband, 230+ TV channels including Sky Cinema and Sky Sports, Netflix and up to three O2 SIMs for your phone.

On top of the Virgin Media service, there’s also access to other perks like O2 Priority, which can be really handy for getting early access to things like concert tickets. This offer from Virgin Media is only running until 9 October 2025, so it will pay to move fast.

If that all sounds like too much effort, Virgin Media isn’t the only option out there. Sky is offering 150Mbps Full Fibre from £26 a month, while EE has Full Fibre 150 from £27.99 a month.

Most of these prices are in the same ballpark for similar broadband speeds. While most broadband offers a similar experience, in the 2024 Ofcom customer service survey, EE came out top of the three we have mentioned, although both Sky and Virgin Media weren’t far behind.

Virgin Media, on the other hand, was awarded “Most Reliable Broadband Provider” by Uswitch, so there’s plenty to consider. As I said, don’t hang around, though, because the offer for referral rewards only runs until 9 October.
