A well-known cricket content creator has been jailed for distributing indecent photos of children and being found with voyeuristic photographs of a woman who had no idea they had been taken. Kieran Hornsby, who is known as Kez from YouTube cricket channel wecricket, was jailed for three years on Tuesday (July 15).

Hornsby, 29, formerly of Canada Road in Arundel, distributed the most serious (category A) indecent images of children via an X (formerly Twitter) account owned by him. He was arrested in March 2023, where several electronic devices were seized and found to contain evidence of distribution of indecent images and material suggesting a sexual interest in children.

A number of voyeuristic images were also found of an adult woman, who was totally unaware of them having been taken.

Hornsby was charged with distributing category A indecent images of children and voyeurism. He pleaded guilty to both charges and, at Lewes Crown Court on Tuesday (15 July) he was sentenced to a total of three years in prison

He was also given a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order and made subject to lifelong notification to the Sex Offenders Register, severely restricting his use of digital devices, the internet and overseas travel. He was also given a restraining order regarding the voyeurism victim, who in law will have lifelong anonymity.

Charges did not relate to children at school or cricket community

Detective Sergeant Paul Hitchcock said: “This was a complex investigation, involving liaison with international prosecutors in Washington DC, as well as victim ID enquiries. Thanks to the hard work of the Online Child Abuse Team we have been able to bring a dangerous individual to justice and put him behind bars where he can cause no further harm to the public.

“The matter was thoroughly investigated and we noted that Hornsby used to work as a teaching assistant in a local school, as well as later being a social media personality known for his YouTube channel ‘wecricket’.

“Following close liaison with the safeguarding lead at the school, and the safeguarding leads at England and Wales Cricket Board, we can confirm the charges did not relate to children from the local school, nor are they connected with any cricket related activity.”
