Manchester United fans can join the likes of David Beckham, Gary Neville and Sir Alex Ferguson as they relive their historic treble win in an all-new series. Available to stream here, 99 is billed as the ‘definitive’ docuseries exploring the final days of the club’s 1998/99 campaign.
99 launched on May 17 on Amazon’s Prime Video, ahead of the 25th anniversary of Man United’s treble win. All three episodes are available to stream here with Amazon Prime, which usually costs £8.99 a month or £95 a year – or £5.99 for Prime Video – but can be tried absolutely free with a 30-day free trial.
As per its official synopsis, 99 is both a love letter to one of the greatest achievements in world football and the story of a group of players who were recruited, coached and moulded by Sir Alex to create history. It explores the team’s triumph in the Premier League, FA Cup and UEFA Champions League across 10 pivotal days in 1999 with untold stories revealing the dressing room conflicts, personal struggles and miraculous moments behind the legendary season which culminated in the most unbelievable comeback victory in football.

Despite dominating domestically in the 90s, Sir Alex was yet to restore his side’s European glory when in 1999, it arrived in spectacular fashion as the club won three trophies in 10 days to achieve the first treble in English football history. Now 25 years later, filmmaker Sampson Collins explores the excitement, unparalleled determination and miraculous twists of fate leading up to the remarkable achievement with access to the team and new revelations and footage from inside the dressing room.
99 features exclusive interviews from key characters in the story, with Beckham, Neville, Paul Scholes, Peter Schmeichel, Teddy Sheringham, Andy Cole and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer each recalling every perspective and vital moment in vivid detail. It also hears from coaching staff including Sir Alex and Steve McClaren.
The series has been constructed using never-before-seen archive footage, with candid behind-the-scenes video from the club and fans, to take viewers back to a remarkable moment in sport, lifting the curtain of the era-defining season. 99 has earned a raft of positive reviews, with The Telegraph awarding it five stars and hailing it ‘a superb piece of work’ that is ‘informed, smart’ and a ‘paean to sporting excellence’.
