The 66-year-old has been jailed
A West London pensioner who sexually harassed two teenage girls in a shopping centre has been jailed. Kamikar Brar, of Sutherland Road, Ealing, made drunken sexual comments to the youngsters on a stairwell in the Harlequin centre in Watford on May 3.
The 66-year-old approached under the guise of needing directions for the bathroom before subjecting one of the girls to a spiel of inappropriate questions. The sordid behaviour only ended when a member of the public told Brar to stop making the pair uncomfortable.
Initially leaving, the creep later returned and continued with the lewd chat, catching the attention of another bystander who reported him to the shopping centre’s security team. Police were called and Brar was arrested and charged.
In October his bail conditions stopped him from entering Watford for any reason. He later pled guilty to one count of engaging in sexual communication with a child.
Brar was handed five months behind bars during an appearance at St Albans Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, November 13. His name has also been placed on the Sex Offenders’ Register, where it will remain for the next seven years.
During this time, he will be subject to the notification requirements and on his release from prison, he will be managed by officers from the constabulary’s Public Protection Unit who will carry out regular risk assessments.
Detective Constable Clare Lapenna, of Hertfordshire Police, said: “We are pleased to have brought this case to a conclusion for the young victim, who was simply enjoying a shopping trip with her friend when she was targeted by Brar. She has shown great resilience throughout the investigation and court case, and we hope she feels that she can now close this chapter and move forward.
“In Hertfordshire, we take a zero-tolerance approach to sexual offences and we will always do everything in our power to bring perpetrators to justice.”
