Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, who was Prince Andrew, lost his “cast-iron” legal right to remain at Royal Lodge until 2078 — and now must move to the Sandringham estate
Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie have been granted to accept new royal roles — following a “secret deal” between their dad Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and King Charles.
While the monarch finally caved in and decided to evict Andrew, 65, from Royal Lodge, it was deemed both Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie would keep their titles. Their disgraced father can no longer keep his title of prince, though, and has effectively been banished from royal life.
It is said Charles came to this decision after reaching “a secret deal” with his brother. This has reportedly now strengthened Beatrice and Eugenie’s prospects, as Beatrice, 37, has been appointed this week as the new Deputy Patron of charity Outward Bound, which has close links with The Firm.

Prince Philip had been Outward Bound’s figurehead for 65 years until his second son, the then Prince Andrew, took over as patron of the group. It uses “wild adventure to help young people realise their potential through learning, challenge and discovery in the outdoors”.
Martin Davidson, the chief executive, said: “With the Duke of Edinburgh and Princess Beatrice working alongside us, we’re embarking on a new chapter. One where every young person has the chance to test their limits, build confidence and discover that anything is possible. Their support reflects a shared belief that adventure changes lives.”
The new opportunity for Princess Beatrice, the mum of two, has been finalised after she and her sister faced no consequences following their dad’s shame. Richard Eden, a journalist with the Daily Mail, said in today’s edition that this was reached after Charles and Andrew came to “a secret deal” to reportedly help protect the women.
Even their mother, Sarah Ferguson, suffered amid the fallout. The 66-year-old woman must now find her own home — and work — following Andrew’s eviction. Prospects for Sarah, who can no longer use the term the Duchess of York, look bleak in comparison to her daughter’s hopes, and now she is reportedly looking to move to Portugal.
Beatrice visited Chelsea and Westminster Hospital on Monday to see the charity Borne’s research laboratories and learn more about the organisation’s work to prevent premature birth. Beatrice’s own daughter, Athena, was born prematurely at the hospital in west London and the princess is a patron of Borne.
The princesses have accompanied Andrew and Sarah Ferguson on travels around the world and, at times, have been caught up in some of the couple’s controversies. In 2006, for instance, Andrew invited his acquaintance, the late financier and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, to Beatrice’s 18th-birthday party.
