2024 has been a bit of a let-down weather-wise so far.
April has brought it’s characteristic showers interspersed with bursts of taunting sunshine that get us in the pub beer gardens just long enough to regret that decision. The start of May isn’t looking all that great, either.
But, fear not – summer is coming. Kind of.

Wednesday (May 1) will see the start of six straight days of rain, according to BBC Weather. That’s right, from Wednesday through to Monday (May 6), we’ll be seeing a bit of a washout.
That means the Bank Holiday weekend will be pretty wet, unfortunately.
There’s a day of respite on the Tuesday (May 7), before it rains again on the Wednesday (May 8).
But after that, things are looking up. From Thursday, May 9, it’s 18C sunshine for the rest of the week, four straight days of rays. The forecast doesn’t stretch beyond that, but fingers crossed the sunshine is here to stay.
Temperatures are nothing remarkable, sitting at around 18C, but as long as the sun’s out, we’ll take what we can get.
Meanwhile, the Met Office’s long range forecast reckons that, as May goes on, the chances of unsettled weather will get less and less likely, so we can probably expect some sunnier skies heading into June.
