US President Donald Trump landed in Scotland for a four-day visit to the UK on Friday, but he has no plans to visit London. Air Force One – the presidential plane – touched down at Prestwick Airport in Ayrshire on Friday (July 25) just before 8.30pm.

The president was met off the plane by Scottish Secretary Ian Murray, before taking the presidential helicopter Marine One to Turnberry golf course.

During his time in the country, the president will meet Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer, Scottish First Minister John Swinney, and European Commission president Ursula von der Leyen.

Trump and Sir Keir are expected to discuss potential changes to the UK-US trade deal which came into force last month, PA reports. The president is due to fly home on Tuesday (July 29).

Here’s a timeline of Mr Trump’s trip to the UK, including what he’s done so far:

  • Friday, 8:30pm – Air Force One lands at Prestwick Airport in Ayrshire. Trump tells Europe ‘get your act together’ on immigration.
  • Saturday – Trump plays golf at the Turnberry golf course, which he bought in 2014. There are protests outside, but no arrests.
  • Sunday, 11am – Trump plays another round of golf at Turnberry with his son Eric.
  • Sunday afternoon – Trump will meet Ursula von der Leyen for transatlantic trade talks.
  • Monday – Sir Keir will head north to meet Trump to discuss mounting anger over conditions in Gaza. Trump will also meet Scottish First Minister John Swinney as he opens a new golf course in Aberdeenshire.
  • Tuesday – Trump will fly home.

On Saturday a 50-year-old woman was issued with a recorded police warning in connection with alleged threatening behaviour at a Stop Trump Scotland protest outside the US consulate in Edinburgh on Saturday, but no arrests were made, according to Police Scotland. There was also a protest in Aberdeen.

Scottish critics of the president say Trump’s promises of creating thousands of jobs through development around his Scottish golf courses has not come to pass.
