Woman, 36, rushed to hospital after being shot on residential East London street

A 36-year-old woman has been rushed to hospital after being shot in Walthamstow in the middle of the night. No arrest has yet been made in connection with the incident.

She was treated at the scene by paramedics, who were called to Howard Road at around 12.17am, before being rushed to hospital. Her injuries are not believed to be life-threatening nor life-changing.

The Metropolitan Police has said that there will be more officers in the area following the shooting. Anyone with information which may help their investigation is being asked to come forward.

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police Service said: “On Monday, 29 September at 00:17hrs police were called to reports of a shooting at Howard Road, Walthamstow.

“Paramedics treated a 36-year-old woman before taking her to hospital. Her injuries are not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing.

“No arrests have been made at this stage. We understand this has caused concern in the community and there will be an increased police presence in the area. The incident is being investigated by Trident North East Specialist Crime Command.”
