Shopping for groceries can be tough, as many of us try to stick to a budget while still indulging in the occasional treat. One woman, named Isobel Lorna, recently visited what she believes may be the UK’s “most expensive” farm shop – Daylesford Farm Shop in Gloucestershire – to splash out on some luxurious items, and she couldn’t believe how much they cost.

The shop, which also has two smaller locations in London, offers an array of fresh, organic produce and elegantly packaged cupboard staples. According to its website, the shop boasts “award-winning fresh produce, artisan wine and spirits, high-welfare meat and essential larder items from our organic farm and further afield”.

Isobel documented her visit to the shop in a TikTok video, saying: “I’m going to get some snacks and see how expensive it really is.”

Upon entering, she spotted a display of fresh vegetables, but she had her sights set on something more indulgent – crisps. The only option she could find was a bag of Torres caviar flavoured crisps, which came with a hefty price tag of £6.75.

Clearly, shopping at Daylesford Farm Shop doesn’t come cheap, but for those looking to treat themselves to high-end groceries, it might just be the perfect destination. In her quest for something sweet, Isobel also looked for chocolate bars.

The only option she found was a square bar adorned with edible flowers, carrying a hefty £15 price tag. She was equally taken aback by a bag of cookies priced at £9.25 and what she referred to as “the world’s smallest coffee,” costing £6.50.

Approaching the counter, Isobel confessed: “I am scared about the total of this.” The combined cost of her four items amounted to £37.90.

One viewer expressed their disbelief, commenting: “I beg your absolute finest pardon but Torres crisps £7?” Another firmly stated: “I don’t care what cookies or how unreal they are, no way they are worth that.”

Another added: “There is literally no reason for that. I have a beautiful farm shop near me and yes you can spend a small fortune on chutneys and nice bits but I bought everything for Sunday lunch last week and it came to less than £40.”

However, not everyone agreed. One fan of the place enthused: “Daylesford is incredible, love it, excellent produce.”

Another chimed in with: “Daylesford is so beautiful.” “The truffle crisps from that brand are so good,” insisted another.

A regular visitor to the Daylesford farm shop admitted: “I admit it’s a bit overpriced but it’s still my favourite shop.” Yet another defended the pricing, stating: “These prices aren’t bad in my opinion.”
