A woman called police after discovering a ‘body’ lying head deep in sand, terrified ‘a murderer was on the loose’, only to receive the shock of her life when the cops arrived
A woman called the police after discovering a naked ‘body’ lying on a beach – but all wasn’t what it seemed.
In a snap shared to Reddit, what appeared to be a helpless female was left with her head submerged under sand. According to a local report, however, the body turned out to be a “very realistic” sex doll on closer inspection.
Alice Cowdrey, who discovered the doll at Tapuae Beach, south of New Plymouth in New Zealand, while walking her dog. She described her find as life-like to the point “it had fingernails”, which prompted her to “freak out” and call the emergency services. She told RNZ: “I just sort of froze, and felt sick.”
She went on: “I could see it was definitely the shape of a torso, face down, and I could tell it was a woman’s figure.” Alice said she assumed there was “a murderer could be on the loose” – that is, until the police arrived.
“I sort of saw one of the cops nudge it with his foot, and I thought, he’s not going to nudge it if it’s a body,” she continued. “And then he sort of flipped it over, and it was even more realistic when it was on its back, it had everything… it was very realistic… but obviously you could tell it was a sex doll.”
Reddit couldn’t help but poke fun at her ordeal, however. “Wow someone just used it and dumped it into the ocean,” one responded. “I’m guessing they either got bored of it, realised that they didn’t need it anymore and were embarrassed by it and just dumped it!”
A second theorised: “Someone tried to bury their shame, realised how hard it actually is to dig a grave, and just shoved their head in and gave up.” And a third quipped: “Imagine your whole life building up to this moment.”
